Surfing Lessons at Mollymook.
- Published 20/12/2010
We run lessons at Mollymook Beach when surf conditions are great for that beach. Check the schedule with Pam for any changes. We have been riding a great bank at South Mollymook lately so look forward to catching a few waves with Pam and the gang at the best spots on the beach. Sometimes we have to get up early to get the best waves so set your alarm.

Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day
- Published 29/11/2010
Last Weekend saw the annual Girls Go Surfing Day run around the counrty. Our event must have surely been the best if the smiles are anything to go by. Girls and women of all ages gathered at Bendalong on Saturday and then again at Mollymook on Sunday for some great surf action.
The highlight for me was seeing some mums get out there with the younger girls and ride waves, sometimes for the first time, sometimes for the first time in AGES. It was pure stoke all around.
The waves were friendly on both days with a metre or so of north east swell pushing in. Whitewater rides were the order of Saturday with grey skies but no rain being good for the picnic sausage sizzle part of the day. Sunday was even better in some ways as we surfed on 3 different banks with a gang of girls surfing out the back and riding some excellent waves to the beach with turns and speed pumps thrown in.
Courtney Hill was the wave magnet of the day loving the North Molly left handers as a Goofy footer always will. Not to be outdone Georgia Johnston came back to the left hander and traded some great lefts with Courtney. Well done both girls! Some of our mums even caught some from out the back as the tide came up.
The only downer of course was the water temp. Coldest of the year so far due to the preceeding North East wind and swell that caused the dreaded up welling of cold water. There were a few purple lips and chattering teeth but not many complaints as most lasted the full two hours in the water. The wetsuits do help. Especially our RIP CURL wetsuits that are worn in our surf school.
Thanks to all who helped out on both days with everything from collecting forms, food, cooking, tents and our great coaches.
Look forward to doing it again next year! Hang on don't wait until then book in for our women's group Tuesdays and or Fridays midday or for school holiday lessons. Also check out up coming women's surf retreats and other events.
See you in the waves.
More photos below. See if you can find a pic of you??
Not sure of everyone's name so let us know if you are in one.
